  • The first-ever Fonta Flora Barnburner 50-K mountain bike race takes place Sept. 29. The race will begin at the Fonta Flora Brewery Whippoorwill Farm and utilize trails both on the property adjacent to the park and within Lake James State Park.   • It may seem crazy to start planning so far in advance, but no crazier than actually participating in the 2nd annual SwimRun Lake James to be held on April 20, 2019. This endurance race pits teams of two competitors against the rest of the field and, more importantly, whatever weather is on tap for race day. Racers will navigate 2-3 miles of open water swimming and 13-14 miles of trail running (depending on final course layout).
