If you notice the lake shoreline looking spiffy these days you can thank the 205 volunteers that descended on Lake James State Park and its surrounding shoreline in Burke County. In what has become an annual rite of Spring, the Lake James Clean Up, organized by Community of Lake James Inc. and the Lake James chapter of the North Carolina Wildlife Association. Among the volunteers there were 90 area high school and college students, who added their considerable efforts toward collecting a total of 4.5 tons of trash, including 30 discarded tires.
